Everybody’s favourite grandmother, Oma, has proven a success with sellout crowds at the 2022 Sydney Film Festival (SFF). 87YO Hendrika van Genderen, who suffers from Altzheimer’s,  featured in a family video that went viral on social during Lockdown. Son and director, Jason van Genderen, continued to make more films about caring for his mother to satisfy the curiosity of a growing global audience. Everybody’s Oma is a feature-length documentary that takes us behind the scenes of Oma’s fame to see how Jason’s upbeat family creatively cares for Oma as her fame increases and congnition decreases.

As well as having built an online audience of 143K +, Everybody’s Oma has gained official selection in two other national festivals: MIFF (2022 Melbourne International Film and 2022 Cinefest Oz Film Festival). Bonsai Films‘ Jonathan Page has ANZ distribution rights with the film set to release in 70 screens from Aug 11th.
