Changing behaviour through videos

Educational video production reducing road fatalities

Each year around 350 people die on NSW roads, unnecessarily. To help reduce fatalities, PCYC NSW commissioned Good Eye Deer to produce a series of videos for the Traffic Offenders Intervention Program (TOIP). Over 20,000 individuals who have lost their licences attend the programme each year in NSW alone.

“PCYC chose the unique talents of the team at Good Eye Deer to capture these stories so that they would have lasting impact on the people who had to complete the course with PCYC

– Justin Hayes, PCYC GM of Member Services

The TOIP seven-part video series contains raw and confronting interviews with traffic offenders, victims, lawyers, police, paramedics and other emergency services personnel. Together, these documentary-style, cinematic videos demonstrate the consequences of making poor decisions while driving.

“The impact was greater than any lecture I’ve given in more than 25 years in the Police Force. I’m so glad we have these videos as a resource, they’re going to go a long way in saving lives on our roads.”

– Leading Senior Constable Adam Partridge.

Award-winning educational videos

The video series has also received critical acclaim winning state and national awards including Best Education and Training Video at the 2014 National Australian Video Producers Association (AVPA) Awards this month. The series also won the Gold Award for cinematography from the Australian Cinematographers Society at the 2014 NSW and ACT awards and has been nominated for a 2015 National ACS award.
