This is the 2016 update of the CSA scripts developed by The Salvation Army for the Red Shield Appeal. We needed to show a range of services they offer in a way that raised awareness about the issues but also gave hope. From the 60 sec script we were required to develop a 30sec and 2 x 15sec TVCs. We also needed to work with a small crew and in-house Salvation Army staff to maximise the budget.

The big challenges of this national series were showing the scope of work The Salvation Army do while working with very little lead time (8 days), multiple national locations, (predominantly) non actors, in-house staff, a small crew (3-6) and very delicate subject matter.

We chose to use two different visual styles for the before and after shots - handheld camera for people in need, and locked / smooth dolly shots for images that represented stability - the help and hope that The Salvation army offer.

"This special and important project was enriched enormously by Good Eye Deer's role in it. They worked thoughtfully (and very hard) to help bring it to life, and were flexible and creative throughout the process. They were particularly good at suggesting cost-effective production techniques and processes, which enabled us to see an ambitious project come to full fruition."
